Help us help others
Last summer, the Laurus Running Club ran the MC200 with 12 runners, two drivers, and a heck of a lot of determination … and we're doing it again!
The name of the race has changed – it's now called the Ragnar Relay – Chicago, but the race is just as much fun and just as challenging. This year we've added another full team of 12 runners and we need your help to raise money for the Laurus Foundation.
The Ragnar Relay-Chicago is a 200-mile course divided into 36 Legs that teams of up to 12 members will navigate over a two-day period. It takes us on a scenic tour of the Madison-Milwaukee-Chicago corridor. The Teams will gather in Wisconsin's capital city of Madison on June 10, 2011 and will finish the course on Chicago's fabled Lakefront Running Path on Saturday June 11.
The Laurus Running Team is helping to support the Laurus Foundation with your generous donations. If you would like to sponsor one of the Laurus Running Club runners or simply want to support our teams, you can do so by filling in a pledge amount in the right sidebar. Don't forget to include the name of the runner you are supporting.
As one of our Partners in Progress, you are helping the foundation fund programs like our Healthy Bodies–Healthy Minds initiative that is bringing healing to our service men and women and others who are suffering from a traumatic brain injury (TBI) or post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
This past November, we met a remarkable young lady named Juliana Ramos. She suffered her traumatic brain injury in a tragic car accident in October of 2009. You may have heard or read about Juliana after her fiancé, Chris Medina, appeared on American Idol. The recognition she and Chris have received has brought much-needed attention to the issues facing people with TBI.
But, like so many others with a TBI, Juliana and her family were not given much hope of recovery. We believe that hope is the very thing that these families need most. We know there are no guarantees, but there is always hope.
One of the most exciting and promising treatments is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT). HBOT is a medical treatment which enhances the body's natural healing process by inhalation of 100% oxygen in a total body chamber where atmospheric pressure is increased and controlled to achieve improvements in brain blood flow.
The results we have seen so far have been remarkable and we hope to continue and expand this initiative with your help. Please become a financial Partner in Progress and help us provide the much-needed services these men and women so richly deserve.
Your financial support will allow us to help those suffering from a TBI on their long road to recovery.
