GRANT FOR 20 IRAQ AND AFGHANISTAN VETERANS
Last fall we had the good fortune to add Dr. Martinucci and the Midwest Hyperbaric Institute to our Partners in Progress initiative. Both Cpl. Yuriy Zmysly and Sgt. Tim Kathol have been through a 40 session protocol of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) at Midwest. Tim, as a veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) was able to take advantage of a grant from the state of IL. His progress has been remarkable. Below are the details of the grant, the related forms and a link to a YouTube video interview of Dr. Martinucci that the Laurus Foundation had the pleasure of producing. Special thanks to Erin Little of Laurus Technologies for her help on this production.
The Bolingbrook VFW — Post 5917 is currently sponsoring an innovative Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) treatment program and study. Post 5917 received a grant from the State of Illinois for a study of the use of hyperbaric treatment (oxygen under pressure) in the treatment of TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury).
The Grant will cover treatment and study expenses for up to 20 Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan who have a TBI (see HBOT program downloads below for symptoms evaluation form).
This study is being conducted by August Martinucci, M.D. at the Midwest Hyperbaric Institute, P.C. in Bolingbrook, IL. The study will provide a course of 40 hyperbaric sessions in order to gather results as to its effect on the healing of damaged brain tissues. There is strong reason to believe that this approach may be very successful.
HBOT is a medical treatment which enhances the body’s natural healing process by inhalation of 100% oxygen in a total body chamber where atmospheric pressure is increased and controlled.
It has been employed for centuries to treat a variety of medical conditions; but, HBOT is presently gaining widespread recognition for its value in new applications in the field of neurology where it is being used for problems such as traumatic brain injury, stroke, and other neurological disorders.
If you believe that you or a loved one may be a candidate for this study, you may contact Dr. Martinucci from the Midwest Hyperbaric Institute for further details at .
