The Laurus Foundation is proud to partner with HBO, Disabled Patriot Fund, and USA Cares to bring this important event to Chicago.

Civil War doctors called it hysteria, melancholia and insanity. During the First World War it was known as shell-shock. By World War II, it became combat fatigue. Today, it is clinically known as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), a crippling anxiety that results from exposure to life-threatening situations such as combat.

With suicide rates among active military servicemen and veterans currently on the rise, the HBO special WARTORN 1861-2010 brings urgent attention to the invisible wounds of war.

Some documentary films are interesting and informative. Some are even moving. WARTORN is a clarion call to action.

With its well documented historical perspective, WARTORN takes the audience on a journey that utterly dispels any notion that post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an incidental, mysterious aberration of modern warfare. PTSD is the foremost casualty of all wars.

WARTORN is one of the most powerful documentary you will ever see! Be advised. This film deals with the serious matter of post-traumatic stress and the horrors of war. The images are disturbing and some of those interviewed discuss their heart wrenching experience of a loved one's tragic suicide.

Seating is limited, so register today.

NOTE: If you are unable to attend this event, the HBO Documentary Films presentation debuts on Veterans Day, THURSDAY, NOV. 11 (9:00-10:15 p.m. ET/PT), exclusively on HBO. Other HBO playdates:
